Steven A. Scoggan

Ellis & Winters LLP is pleased to announce that Steven Scoggan has been inducted into the North Carolina Pro Bono Honor Society as part of its first inaugural class recognized by the Supreme Court of North Carolina.  The honor society recognizes attorneys who donated 50 or more hours of legal services during 2016.

Steven’s pro bono work involved serving as the guardian ad litem counsel in cases pending before North Carolina’s appellate courts, including arguing a case in the Supreme Court of North Carolina in August of 2016.

Earlier this year, Steven was inducted into the Herb Falk Society, an honorary run by the Greensboro Bar Association for attorneys who devoted more than 75 hours of pro bono work in a calendar year.

Pro bono work plays an important role in the firm’s culture, and Ellis & Winters encourages its attorneys to find pro bono clients and matters meaningful to them. The firm, moreover, treats its pro bono clients with the same dignity, respect, and effort as any other client.  In 2016 alone, our lawyers, paralegals, and staff devoted over 1,400 hours to pro bono work.
