On May 16, Ellis & Winters attorneys Alex Pearce, Tom Segars, and Sean Fernandes presented “The Inside Job: Cybersecurity, Trade Secrets Protection and Departing Employee Data Theft” to the Research Triangle Area Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel at Prestonwood Country Club.  The presentation and CLE explored the strategic and tactical considerations presented to inside counsel when departing employees leave to work for a competitor and take sensitive information with them.  With Mr. Pearce and Mr. Segars providing panel commentary based on their extensive experience assisting companies with cybersecurity and departing employee issues, Mr. Fernandes walked the audience through a hypothetical scenario and invited attendees to weigh in at various decision points using a real-time, SMS-based polling application.  The presenters would like to thank the over 120 RTAC-ACC members and guests in attendance for their active and thoughtful participation throughout the scenario.
