Ellis & Winters is pleased to announce that on August 10, 2018 Alex Pearce was certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as a Privacy Law Specialist as part of its inaugural class of specialists in the area of Privacy Law. The IAPP is accredited by the American Bar Association to certify lawyers in this specialty. One of only 27 lawyers nationwide in the inaugural class, Alex’s certification by the IAPP as a Privacy Law Specialist demonstrates his substantial knowledge and experience in the field.
Alex’s practice focuses on Privacy and Data Security law. He partners with organizations to provide strategic and practical guidance on matters that implicate domestic and international privacy and data security considerations. His broad and varied experience includes counseling clients on the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and helping to design and implement global compliance strategies; advising clients on cybersecurity incidents and breach response, including interactions with state and federal regulators; counseling clients on compliance with privacy and data security laws and regulations in the design and delivery of online, offline, and mobile product and service offerings; and representing clients in disputes that implicate privacy and data-security issues, including litigation involving international and cross-border discovery.
A frequent writer and presenter on privacy and data security issues, Alex has also been certified by the IAPP as a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP), a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) and Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT).
