Jamie test 3

Jamie Weiss is a partner in the litigation group at Ellis & Winters. His complex commercial litigation practice includes matters as diverse as defending real estate developers from accusations of fraud, prosecuting claims on behalf of companies and individuals involving trade secrets and employee mobility, and defending cases involving crane and rigging accidents.

Before joining Ellis & Winters, Jamie practiced at Bryan Cave LLP in St. Louis for five years, where he defended consumer class actions in federal courts across the country, and litigated dozens of cases involving sales of fraudulent residential mortgages.

Although lawyers participate in litigation on a daily basis, Jamie understands that many clients have concerns about navigating this unfamiliar territory. Jamie appreciates the opportunity to help both individuals and businesses traverse this terrain, whether by guiding them through their first deposition or explaining litigation tactics and strategy.

Jamie also oversees the firm’s pro bono practice. In his own pro bono practice, he represented the Anti-Defamation League as amicus curiae in a landmark case before the Missouri Supreme Court, winning reversal in a case involving anti-Semitic juror misconduct. At Ellis & Winters, he has worked on numerous state court appeals representing the guardian ad litem in cases involving juvenile abuse and neglect.

In the community, Jamie currently serves on the Town of Cary Zoning Board of Adjustment. Within the legal community, Jamie has been involved in leadership with the Defense Research Institute for a number of years. He serves on the steering committee for both the Commercial Litigation Section and the Young Lawyers Committee, and has been named to the DRI Judicial Task Force. He is a frequent speaker on the topic of associate development.

Jamie received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, where he was Order of the Coif and an Executive Articles Editor of the Washington University Law Review.

Before entering law school, Jamie was the operations manager of a staffing company operating in Virginia and North Carolina. A fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Washington Capitals, and all areas of trivia, Jamie won the 1990 Jeopardy! Teen Tournament championship. He and his wife Amanda live in Cary with their two sons.
